Not All Essential Oils Are Created Equal

HAPPY FALL!

As our temps are dropping to the 80’s and the sun is setting earlier, I love this time of year, with the exception of ragweed pollens. But I have some tips in this newsletter for dealing with those environmental threats. Also, now more than ever, let me encourage you to stay consistent with your pilates. In the Fall and Winter, we tend to eat heavier meals, watch more of our favorite shows in the evening, and overindulge with whatever holiday comes up; Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years. And then there’s the Super Bowl.

Go ahead and enjoy yourself. Just keep making time for Pilates and whatever other exercise you like to do.

It’s great to see so many people interested in essential oils these days. Chemists have identified over 3,000 different molecules present in essential oils. And we’re still discovering more and more about what they can do for our health.

My family has replaced our medicine cabinet with essential oils and we use them everyday for everything from sleep issues, to air freshener, to mouthwash and face cleaning, to cleaning counter tops.

But not all essential oils are created equal. If you’re wanting to reduce toxins in your body, please choose your essential oils with care.

doTERRA oils go beyond “organic.” They’re Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade. What this means is they contain NO fillers or artificial ingredients that would dilute their active qualities. They’re also free of any contaminants, such as pesticides or other chemical residues.

doTERRA oils are subjected to rigorous testing to ensure their composition and activity is consistent and potent.
So when I use these essential oils, I know the results will always be consistent.

Because the FDA does not regulate the labeling of essential oils, a bottle can say 100% pure with only five percent of the bottle containing essential oil and the rest is fillers. Some of these fillers can be very harmful. For instance, certain fillers have chemical constituents that are closely related to turpentine.

Also, if the right species or part of a plant hasn’t been used, or if the plant hasn’t been grown in the right environment, harvested at the right time, or not distilled under the right conditions, the natural chemical makeup of the oil will not provide as predictable and powerful a benefit. In some cases, the wrong plant part harvested at the wrong time may result in an oil that contains harmful levels of some constituents.

If you bought some essential oil from a health food store, check the label. It will say “for aromatic purposes only.” If you read the label more fully, you will find it says, “Not intended for internal use.”

Because doTERRA essential oils are certified pure therapeutic grade, they can be used aromatically, internally, as well as topically. They represent the safest and most beneficial essential oils available today. So please, if you plan to add essential oil to your drinking water, make sure it’s doTERRA.

Another very important point I want to make when adding drops of essential oil to your water, always use a glass container. If you add it to a plastic water bottle, it will leach some of the plastic molecules from the bottle into your water, adding to your toxin load.

These next 2 tips are pretty common sense. Never put the oils into your eyes or your ear canal. If you need to dilute the oil before applying to your skin, use an oil like coconut, argan or jojoba. Water will not dilute the oil.

doTerra Oils have the highest vibrational energy of any substance.

Many holistic practitioners believe that when you raise the energy of your body by taking high-energy remedies, you also improve your immune function.

When I was at Disney World a couple of weeks ago, I started coming down with a virus. I had brought only a tiny sample of doTERRA’s OnGuard with me. It’s my go to oil for whenever I’m coming down with something. The other oils I brought were Peppermint for energy and Basil to support my adrenals.

Even though I ran out of the OnGuard, I continued to use the Basil almost every hour. And I did fine. That was a testament to the power of all the oils being antiviral. So use whatever you have on hand. The key is to use a couple of drops every 2 hours rather than use a large amount all at once. Your body can assimilate it better that way.

With the flu and cold season coming upon us, here’s an Essential oil recipe to keep on hand…

Immune Booster Blend

Into an empty gel capsule add:

  • 5 drops Onguard
  • 5 drops Melaleuca
  • 3 drops Oregano
  • 4 drops Peppermint

Take every 2 hours or every hour if needed.

If you start this at the first symptom, you’ll knock it out the first day.

Keep your oils tightly closed and away from light. If stored properly, they will maintain their potency for years. There are no expiration dates on doTERRA oils.

Clear Breathing Blend

  • 2 drops Lavender
  • 2 drops Lemon
  • 2 drops Peppermint

Take one of 3 ways:

  1. Under the tongue, wit 30 seconds, swallow: repeat as necessary.
  2. Mix in ½ cup water, drink: repeat as necessary
  3. Put drops in empty gel capsule and swallow

Ragweed Blend

Take 2-3 drops each of cilantro, melaleuca and lavender in a capsule. Repeat as necessary.

Happy Breathing!
